Author Kathy Ceceri (craftsforlearning.com) is back with another game-building workshop featuring the versatile Makey Makey invention kit! Makey Makey plugs into any computer and lets you turn anything conductive -- from aluminum foil to play dough -- into a controller. It's easily paired with MIT's free drag-and-drop programming language Scratch to design unique video game environments. In this workshop, you'll explore the possibilities for using Makey Makey to create customized game controllers for players with special needs. Come see how you can use a game design challenge involving hardware and software to encourage teamwork, creative thinking, empathy, and an engineering mindset in your students! Kathy's books for middle grade readers and up include "Video Games: Design and Code Your Own Adventure," "Musical Inventions," and "Paper Inventions." She has more than 10 years' experience offering STEAM enrichment programs throughout the Northeast.
